iBeCHANGE in Palermo: From Behavioural Insight to Prevention Policy

The European Alliance for Personalised Medicine (EAPM) participated in the iBeCHANGE Annual Meeting held in Palermo on 16–17 March 2026, bringing together partners to assess progress and align on the next phase of the project.

The meeting marked an important moment in the transition from research and pilot activities toward implementation and policy translation. Across the two days, discussions focused on advancing behavioural and emotional approaches to cancer prevention, with particular attention to how digital tools, data-driven insights and interdisciplinary collaboration can support sustainable lifestyle change.

Updates from across work packages highlighted progress in the pilot study, development of the mobile application, and the integration of AI-driven models, including behavioural recommendation systems and emerging GenAI approaches. At the same time, partners addressed the broader challenge of ensuring that these innovations can move beyond research settings and be effectively embedded into public health strategies.

EAPM contributed to discussions under Work Package 8, focused on communication, dissemination and policy alignment, emphasising the importance of translating project outputs into actionable insights for policymakers, healthcare systems and stakeholders. The discussions reinforced the need to connect behavioural science with policy frameworks, ensuring that prevention strategies are not only evidence-based, but also scalable and accessible.

The Palermo meeting underlined a key message: cancer prevention cannot be addressed through isolated interventions. It requires a systemic approach that integrates behavioural, psychological and digital dimensions, supported by coordinated policy action.
