Event in the UN Headquarters, New York, September 25th

There is no one solution to tackling the huge complexity of cancer. But innovation continually offers the best hopes of preventing, diagnosing and caring for the millions afflicted with one form or another of this disease that wreaks such havoc on lives, livelihoods and societies. That is where this event will initiate a novel focus in identifying and supporting the best practices to impact on many aspects of the cancer crisis globally.

A conversation open to everyone

The event will take place during High Level Week of the United General Assembly from 15.00 -18.00 on Wednesday, September 25th  in Conference Room 6,United Nations Headquarters

405 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017, USA

Because the challenge of cancer is more than a question of science and technology, the session is focused on policy featuring interventions from and discussion with top-level figures from the world of politics, academia and major stakeholders engaged in the battle against cancer.

Just as there is no one-size-fits-all approach to cancer care, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mobilisation of the political sphere in tackling major health problems – as the experience of combating Covid demonstrated. The event will bring in  experts in the critical role that innovation and collaboration play  across the entire health system to overcome barriers and improve access to treatment.

The event will bring together sharp minds and pioneering organisations where the accent is on personal and professional engagement in rising to the challenge that cancer presents.  Using this open-innovation approach can bring clearer definition to the most effective ways that  the forces of medicine and society can be combined.

The power of audacity in embracing new collaborations and shifting mindsets  was crucial in the success of the response to the pandemic. The same audacity and ingenuity can open hitherto unexplored pathways to beating cancer.
